Did you know that stretching alone can instantly make you faster?
Your flexibility (the ability of your muscles to move through a specific range of motion) is one of the major keys to unlocking your speed potential.
For example, if your hip flexors, quads and hamstrings are tight, you won't be able to drive your knee high enough to produce maximum force when your foot strikes the ground. This is one of the major issues I see with players on a daily basis and there are very simple causes, like sitting in a chair at school for extended periods of time, or sitting at your desk doing homework for hours on end. Another culprit is sitting in the car to drive long distances.
You can have the best technique, the strongest legs or possess explosive power, but if you don't stretch to improve your flexibility you will never reach your speed potential. It is as simple as that.
Concentrate on these 3 stretches that target your hip flexors, hamstrings and quads.
Hold each stretch for 30 seconds and repeat twice on each leg. 1. HIP FLEXOR STRETCH
2. HAMSTRING STRETCH
3. QUAD STRETCH
