Sidestepping, much like speed, is a quintessential skill that every footy player should master, regardless of their position – yes, even props and second rowers. Why, you ask? The answer lies in the incredible advantages it offers. When you can sidestep effectively along with moving your feet fast, you score more tries, beat more defenders and significantly reducing the chances of being tackled. In other words, fewer tackles mean fewer injuries, a crucial consideration in today's increasingly tough rugby landscape.

BEGINNERS The Beginners strength program is designed for those players who don't have access to weights or are beginners to strength training. 

ADVANCED Advanced players have access to a strength training program that utilises the triphasic training method (one of the quickest ways to develop strength and power for speed).

​​HOW THIS PROGRAM WILL IMPROVE YOUR SIDESTEP?

Technique: This is the foundation upon which your sidestep is built. It's about perfecting the mechanics and precision required to outmaneuver your opponents. You will learn my 3 step process to an explosive sidestep that will result in more tries, beating more defenders and being tackled less. 

Fast Footwork: You will develop quick and super sharp footwork through this program. Fast foot movements are crucial to executing a lightening sharp sidestep that leaves defenders grasping at air. 

Power: Power enables a player to perform explosive movements. An explosive sidestep can create the necessary momentum to outmaneuver opponents with quick, sharp changes in direction.

Strength:  Strength enables players to produce the necessary force to push off the ground effectively. This force is needed to propel the body in the new direction quickly and efficiently.

Reaction: Sidestepping is a reactive movement. The sharper and quicker you react to your opponent, the better you will be at beating them. This program will enhance your reaction time

Confidence: Explosive sidesteppers often display greater confidence both on and off the field. Of course scoring more tries and beating more defenders is going to increase confidence.

Component 1: 12-WEEK SIDESTEPPING TRAINING PROGRAM 

This proven program has been tested on thousands of rugby players and includes instruction in all the key skills to an explosive sidestep.  This is easy to follow and clearly explained with 4 training programs in the exact exercise order, reps and sets so all you need to do is follow the program.  

 

These programs include:

Sidestep Program – Improve your technique, coordination, agility, and explosiveness. The program will start off with non reactive drills then moves into reactive drills to enable you to react quickly to the movements of your opponents. This rapid responsiveness is essential for anticipating and countering defensive actions.

Fast Feet ProgramFast feet allows for rapid changes in direction and deception which is crucial for performing an effective sidestep. This program will develop your ability to quickly move your feet to evade defenders and find open space on the field.

Power Program – You can’t have an explosive sidestep without power. Power generates the momentum needed to propel the body in a new direction. This momentum is key to making the sidestep more dynamic and explosive. 

Lower Body & Core Strength Program –Strength enables players to generate the necessary force to push off the ground effectively, propelling the body in a new direction quickly. You'll get access to both the bodyweight and weights programs.
